Life After a Hiatus: How to Re-establish Connections & Continue Progressing

A Call to Hiatus Survivors: A Guide to Reconnect & Continue with Your Life

After an epic two-year hiatus battling with the forces of mental health and the notorious villains known as Writer’s Block, Life Challenger, and Imposter Syndrome, I am back and ready to unleash an unstoppable torrent of wit, wisdom, and whimsy upon the blogosphere! Did you miss me? I sure missed connecting with my readers and friends alike. These two years helped me navigate through heartfelt tales of resilience, loss of loved ones during the plan-demic, through treacherous waters of self-doubt, depression, and the intricacies of LIFE in general.

Life after a hiatus

Whew child! What a journey! But this year 2024 I am ready and poised for a triumphant comeback. Prepare to be inspired and motivated as I am back in the world of pixels and paragraphs. I am happy to share with you a Ten (10) step guide to Reestablishing Connections, Navigate the Path Ahead and Embrace the Possibilities that Await, if you have taken a break from being an internetizen, a personal break, a career break, or a pause for self-reflection.

1. Reflect on the reasons for the rest or hiatus:

Understand why you needed the break in the first place. Reflect on any burnout, lack of motivation, or other factors that led you to take a break. Examine what worked, what didn’t, and how those insights can guide you towards your next step in the future.

2. Set realistic goals:

Identify specific and realistic goals that you want to achieve. Break them down into smaller, manageable steps to make the process more achievable. Envision the destination of these goals, whether it’s a new career or personal growth, mapping out your goals will give you a sense of purpose.

3. Prioritize self-care:

Remember to prioritize self-care. Make sure you’re taking care of your physical and mental health, getting enough sleep, eating well, and incorporating exercise or activities that rejuvenate you.

4. Start slowly:

Gradually ease back into your routine rather than diving straight into your previous level of productivity. Start by dedicating small pockets of time or setting achievable tasks, and slowly increase as you regain momentum.

5. Create a routine:

Establish a structured routine that incorporates your goals. Having set times for work, breaks, and personal activities can help you regain discipline and maintain consistency.

6. Seek support:

Reach out to friends, family, or colleagues who can provide support and accountability. Having someone to share your progress, challenges, and successes with can help keep you motivated. Having someone to encourage and challenge you can make a world of a difference.

7. Break tasks into manageable chunks:

Break your goals into smaller tasks or manageable milestones and take consistent actions towards them. Be specific and make your goals measurable. Setting clear goals will give you a sense of direction and purpose as you continue progressing.

8. Stay flexible:

Be open to adapting your plans if needed. Sometimes unforeseen circumstances arise, and it’s important to be flexible and adjust your approach accordingly.

9. Stay motivated:

Find ways to stay motivated throughout the process. This may include reminding yourself of your goals, rewarding yourself for progress, or finding inspiration through books, podcasts, or mentors.

10. Embrace progress, not perfection:

Remember that progress is more valuable than perfection. Focus on improving and building momentum rather than getting everything exactly right from the start. Stay committed and make progress a non-negotiable part of your routine.

Life After a Hiatus

Remember progress is a journey, not a destination. Be patient with yourself, enjoy the process. Life may throw unexpected challenges or opportunities your way. Embrace them with an open mind and adjust your plans accordingly. I hope these steps can get you back on track after a period of rest or hiatus.  Continue progressing towards your goals.
