I see you queens (and kings)!  Unapologetically rocking that bold and bald look!  I see you celebrating your natural look and I love it!  I have also been sporting my new bald look for the past 2 years and it was the best decision for me.  On a personal note, this decision was a long time coming, to release this subliminal weight.

The year I cut my hair was the year my grandmother died, my long and emotional divorce procedure was finally settled the year prior, I was still struggling with my mental health and PTSD diagnosis.  The stress from everything in my life was causing my hair loss. I am telling you STRESS is real.  This journey is so important to me, recognizing the triggers in my life and working towards a positive outcome.

When I sat in the barber’s chair and saw my hair fall to the floor, it felt both scary and exhilarating!  For those of you who made the BIG CHOP, I know you feel me!  It’s not just about cute styles and accessorizing the look, it requires some care too.

Externally, let’s take care of our bald head:

KEEP YOUR HEAD CLEAN AND MOISTURIZED

  • I don’t trust myself to DIY with a shaver.  I leave that to my barber lol!  But if you’re really good at using your own shaver, you can do it as soon as you’re done shampooing and conditioning.

  • Try washing your scalp every time you shower with an anti-bacterial soap.  I’m all for naturals so I use the AFRICAN BLACK SOAP if I notice a bit of scalp irritation.

Some people’s scalps are super sensitive, so find what products work best for you.  As long as you give your Bald Head love as I do.  I also have my many assorted headscarves on deck to protect that moisture while I sleep and keep the waves on swim when my hair grows out a bit.

If you’re into dying your new growth, that is a science by itself.  I know we’re in a strict lockdown again and we cannot get to our favorite hairstylists, I don’t recommend DIY, but if you’re fearless and have dyed your hair before, I respect your tenacity sis!  I just play it safe with black.  I use GARNIER OLIA midnight black as it’s Ammonia-free.  I still want to ensure that it’s not harsh on my scalp.
