When this pandemic hit us, I said to myself, I have NO EXCUSE for not saving money.  Funds that I would allocate for “miscellaneous” recreational things, I thought since they are basically NON EXISTENT, as we are on lockdown I can put those Friday night movie funds, impulse online shopping, or those occasional dinners and drinks with my friends’ funds to my SAVINGS.

The  financial freedom of having extra money every month to still invest and save in my bank account is a damn great feeling eh!

Let me put it out there.  If you’re anything like me who had to go through PAIN  to eliminate credit card debt, then you know it’s NOT an easy road!  It meant being disciplined enough to live below your means and only purchase essential things in your life, to remove those debts.  I’m happy to share a few tips that can help you save money every month, especially if you’re struggling from pay-check to pay-check or living on one income.

  • Lower your Monthly  Bills

Don’t let budgeting intimidate you.  As long as you are honest where you can cut back.  It’s a sure way to track your spending, ensuring your income is always more than your expenses.  There are tons of budgeting apps available to download to help you along the way like BUDDY and FUDGET.  It definitely helps you  from living pay-check to pay-check, tracks your spending, and best of all builds SAVINGS.

Extra streams of income are always a sure-fire way to boost your savings.  Blogging, for instance, has the potential to create a full-time second income for you, it does require a lot of groundwork but it is greatly rewarding.

Part of your income should be going towards paying off your debts.  Try to pay more than your minimum balances due and on time every month, to avoid interest.  You cannot ignore your debts, it will hurt your CREDIT.  The more  debt you incur, the fewer chances you have to create healthy SAVINGS.

  • Set up Auto-Pay

If you cannot keep track of your due dates for all of your bills and monthly outstanding payments, you most likely have been incurring LATE FEES, that is money going down the drain unnecessarily.  Set a specific day of the month, when your bills are due, to automatically pay them from your credit card,  or bank account.  You’re definitely SAVING time and money. 

  • Buy in Bulk 

Instead of purchasing items like rice. beans, cereal, at the regular grocery price at least twice per month, why not buy your items in BULK?  It lasts longer, fewer grocery trips, and most of all you are SAVING.
