25 Makeover Tips To Feel Confident, Happy and Healthy
Now I’m not referring to trolling every makeup artist tutorial on YOUTUBE for inspiration to improve yourself on the OUTSIDE. We can do that in another blog.
This makeover is more about re-inventing yourself. A new mindset, a change towards growth and self-love. It is to align yourself with who you want to become or just to feel like a better version of yourself.
At a point in my life, I felt like I was on Auto-Pilot. No clear goals or sense of direction to where I want my life to be. I fell into a cycle of bad habits and for a long time, I was not happy with that version of myself. This is where depression moved in RENT FREE. I decided that I needed a change. I needed to open that door to find myself. I wanted to be happier, mentally and physically. I needed to stop being a PEOPLE PLEASER and start pleasing ME.
Here are some tips that truly helped me:
1. TAKE ACTION
Decide that you want this change. Every day, try to learn something new that benefits your ultimate goal in life. Just take some form of action.
2. DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT TO CHANGE
Are you unhappy? Decide that you want to be happy. Happiness isn’t one-size-fits-all. Deciding what makes you happy and taking the necessary steps towards it means you want that change.
3. WRITE IN YOUR JOURNAL
It was recommended by my therapist and I’ve found that writing about my thoughts and feelings (over a glass of wine sometimes) really helps me with expressing myself. I love writing about what inspires me, what makes my day, and what I love about myself. Just WRITE IT ALL DOWN.
4. STAY AWAY FROM TOXIC & NEGATIVE PEOPLE
You know who they are. They are always criticizing, making negative comments about anyone and everything. Always complaining. Taking and never giving anything back. They suck the energy out of your life! Please leave them alone. As they say “drop them like a bad habit”. You don’t need those types of vibes in your journey to self-love and improvement.
5. CLEAN YOUR HOME
Top to bottom! Put fresh sheets on. Clean that refrigerator. Re-decorate that bathroom. A clean and uncluttered home improves your mental energy and mood overall.
6. DRINK WATER EVERYDAY
Come on, I mean… Self-explanatory here. You know water is good for you. It aids in the healthy part of your makeover. Take an extra step and add a few lemon slices
7. SCHEDULE A SELF CARE TIME AND STICK TO IT
I may not remember to moisturize my face every night, but I try at least two days of the week to give myself a face mask or a foot scrub. I aspire to increase it to three days per week.
8. STOP SPEAKING NEGATIVELY ABOUT YOURSELF
I find that when I feel insecure about a part of my body, I mask my insecurity by making fun of it. My weight gain mainly, I would call myself Dumpling or Baby Fat. When I can’t remember an event I call myself Forgetful Jones. Let’s not normalize speaking ill of ourselves. What you feed your mind with, manifests and your body is listening to it. Let’s constantly feed our minds with positive affirmations. Be your own cheerleader!
9. GET SOME SUNSHINE IN YOUR LIFE
It’s healthy and good for your skin and soul. Spring has started. Those of you living in Canada who have just experienced a brutal winter and no warmth outside, you know how I feel about good sunshine!
