15 Things to do while Self Isolating

With the Covid-19 pandemic still present here in Canada, I want to encourage everyone to stay safe and follow the guidelines of the Governmental Authorities.  Winter/Spring months are usually the time of the year we look forward to taking our vacation to venture to warmer parts.  Unfortunately, with the stringent travel restrictions imposed on Canadians, it’s best to stay grounded.  We are resilient and resourceful. We will get through this phase and save our mentality!

I’ve put together a list of things that we can do while we self isolate

1. CLEAN YOUR HOUSE
Take this opportunity to rearrange, clean, dust, and bring out your inner HGTV decorator skills!

2. COOK
We always complained that we never had the time to cook. Well, we’ve got nothing but time!  Bring out granny’s old recipe, check out Youtube and Pinterest for cooking ideas.

3. TAKE AN ONLINE COURSE
Learn a new skill, research free learning resources.  You can learn to do anything online these days.

4. EXERCISE AT HOME
Gyms may be closed.  But it’s no excuse.  There are countless workout apps that you can download.

5. START AN ONLINE BUSINESS
Got laid off?  Furloughed?  Need extra cash?  Why not be your own boss and create an income for yourself.  Especially in a field that you are passionate about or bring a hidden dream of yours to life.  A lot of free webinars in any niche are available online to help you get started.

6. MEDITATE
I found a lot of Youtube and Pinterest-guided meditation routines.  Check them out.  It’s so good for the mind and soul!

7. BINGE WATCH NETFLIX MOVIES
I go back to the classics or catch up on new releases.  By the way, Behind Her Eyes needs a Season 2 ASAP.  I need closure dammit!

8. LISTEN TO PODCASTS
So many topics to choose from.  Whatever you’re into, I guarantee there’s a podcast for it.  I troll Spotify for my favorites.

9. PERFECT YOUR SELFIES
Our new smartphones have so many creative apps.  Go Crazy!

10. MANICURE & PEDICURE DIY
If salons are closed in your area due to lockdown, get creative and DIY.  I hate looking at my hands as I type and my nails are jacked up.  Is it an upside-down French mani?  Is it on or off?  Is it red or light pink at this point?  Girl!  Order some inexpensive mani/pedi sets and products online and be your own DIY nail tech.

11. VIDEO CHAT
The BEST invention!  And the best thing we have right now to reach out to friends and loved ones.  Could you imagine if this was the 90’s or 80’s?  Yeah.  It’s a blessing if you ask me.

12. ORGANIZE YOUR WARDROBE
Time to donate or throw out anything of no use/cannot fit anymore.  Put away Winter gear, bring out those cute Spring coats and outfits.

13. CLEAN YOUR CAR
Ok.  That old receipt from 2019, that piece of dried gum and coffee cup won’t remove itself…

14. LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE
Download Babble or Duolingo.  These apps are really great for learning languages.  I’m currently brushing up on my French.

15. AMAZON FOR E READING
Did you know Amazon Prime offers books on Kindle for a 30-day free subscription?  If you love reading as much as I do, is a great perk.
